Kingsthorpe Obelisk Conservation

West Northampton Council (the Authority) is inviting local Suppliers to bid for the following project.

Kingsthorpe Obelisk is a 100-foot tall, 18th century structure at 400 Obelisk Rise, Northampton, NN2 8UB, in need of, but not limited to the following;

• Amendment to the current scaffolding to allow for lifting etc.

• Vegetation removal

• DOFF Steam clean

• Repointing

• Stone repairs

• Crack stitching

• Replace broken stone blocks

• Removal of corroded iron clamps

The conservation works must be completed safely and to a high quality, requiring specialist, skilled stonemasons and other experienced trades.

Pre-tender estimate is circa £300,000

Estimated project period 2 - 3 months, starting in September 2026
